Psalms 105:17-19 NLT “Then he sent someone to Egypt ahead of them— Joseph, who was sold as a slave. They bruised his feet with fetters and placed his neck in an iron collar. Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the Lord tested Joseph’s character.“
People’s dreams do not get fulfilled because they do not allow the Lord to finish testing and refining their character. However, Joseph was a special case. He was born to be raised as a leader of God’s people. You cannot expect to have authority, all the resources at your disposal, and even Egypt under your rule without first going through the bottom, purified, and tested to be raised to the top.
The rest of the brothers all showed characteristics of jealousy. Although they lived a good life, they did not have Joseph’s perks. You can either choose to go through the fire or be in the group of jealous people.
