Proverbs 7:25, 27 TPT “Control your sexual urges and guard your hearts against lust. Don’t let your passions get out of hand and don’t lock your eyes onto a beautiful woman. Why would you want to even get close to temptation and seduction, to have an affair with her?
27 If you’re looking for the road to HELL, just go looking for her house!”
This is not just about a beautiful woman; it can also be a spiritual idol that is very beautiful in one’s eyes. It can be a thing or secular aspiration that has an appearance of great brilliance, seducing its fragile observers to bow down to its will.
Like from the movie “Lord of the Rings,” the goblin like character, Gollum, is so obsessed and consumed with the ring. His consumption blinds him to all good possible things. In the end, the ring, which can represent an obsessed idol or even your personal aspirations outside of God’s, will only lead to destruction as it did for Gollum.
Comments:
Verse 27 basically says that if you’re looking for the road to Hell, you should just keep wasting time looking and daydreaming of the nonsense.
