Proverbs 31:27 (AMPC)

27 She looks well to how things go in her household, and the bread of idleness (gossip, discontent, and self-pity) she will not eat.

What is the bread of idleness?  In the AMPC, we see that eating the bread of idleness is 2-fold.  First, being lazy is a sin.  Period.  We all know what laziness is and what it looks like.  The second part of that is what we do instead of being productive with our time.  In other words, what do we do while being lazy?

Proverbs 31:27 gives us an idea of what a lazy wife does. In a modern-day application, it can look like this.

She feels sorry for herself. She thinks about how horrible her life, her husband, her marriage, her kids, or her job is. She thinks about others’ blessings, looks/bodies, husbands, families, or privileges with jealousy or envy. She imagines what others might be saying about her and gets herself stirred up into hateful thoughts of that person(s). She thinks about other people’s problems, mistakes, or sins and judges them as though she’s better. She gossips with other ladies about those things.

After thinking these thoughts and daydreaming or scrolling on social media and YouTube, she comforts herself with things she shouldn’t eat, look at, or touch.

When she does this, her husband becomes lazy.  Physically lazy.  Lazy in his mind.  Lazy with his spiritual duties.  Lazy in his ability or willingness to protect, provid,e and lead.  Then it goes down to the children.

What is the remedy?  The first part is to get busy with God’s work.  For some of us, that’s church work.  For some, it’s household duties and kids.  For some, it’s a job.  For some, it’s all of the above.  For ALL of us, it is consistent and focused prayer and reading.

The second part is to do it all with gratitude. Doing God’s work with the wrong heart is a waste of time. He wants our best-and He deserves it.

When we decide to do our God-given work with a grateful heart, everything changes.  Why?  Because when we are grateful for what God has given us and what He has done for us, all the rest falls away.

We must be diligent. We must fight our flesh and persevere.  We must be determined to be grateful to God and show Him our gratitude by how we work for Him.  As Beloved Sr Pastor Steve stated over the weekend, that small seed will turn into something big if we plant and water it correctly.

Amen.

Laziness will prevent u from an abundant life on earth and denial in heaven. This is the truth, and you need to awaken.

Also, Bishop has said in his recent sermon that laziness will not make it to heaven.
