Genesis 3:6 NLT “The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.”
This week in prayer, God showed us that Adam knew that Eve was at the line and in danger of crossing the line. He knew as a husband that Eve was speaking to a bad influence and she was playing with fire. Why didn’t God do anything? HE said HE was watching to see if Adam would take authority and stop his wife and kick the serpent out. But as we know, Adam failed to exercise his authority as a husband, and everything became cursed. Adam’s life, job, children, and his relationship with God was cursed.
If you are a husband or a man who needs to take authority and set your wife, kids, or people under you straight and all you do is pray and ask God for help, wanting him to enforce the authority for you, then you will end up holding a bag of pain. God gave us the authority to reign over the earth and subdue it. If any enemy comes into our house, we are to subdue it. We are not to cry like a baby for help. Some will go crying for Mama if Mama is still around.
We cannot expect to reign in life, desire authority, want the abundant blessings, and walk in God’s Presence when we fail to take action when it comes to crunch time. Failing to exercise in authority will result in preventing any increase in being fruitful and multiplying. Then, the consequences of what we have eaten will manifest. Adam ended up working for minimum wage or paycheck to paycheck as he did back-breaking labor. That is the life in Egypt.
And for the Eve’s, just because it looks good does not mean it is good for you.
But we can have a reverse in roles at times when the wife has been given temporary spiritual authority over the non-spiritual husband and kids. But this is for the families in which both are attending our church and the spiritual authority given to the wife from the pastors for a season.
The context is not just about husbands to wives but about authority itself. If you are a mom and you do not exercise your authority over your child, you will bring a curse.
