1 Peter 3:20-21 EASY “Those were the spirits of people who had refused to obey God long ago. At that time God waited patiently for them to turn to him while Noah was building a large ship. But only a few people agreed to go into that ship. God saved only eight people when the ship sailed on the deep water.
21 That shows how God now saves you. It is like a picture of baptism. The water of baptism does not wash dirt from a person’s body. Instead, it shows that a person has decided to obey God. He is choosing to do what is right. That saves you, because Jesus Christ became alive again after his death.”
What saves you is your decision to obey God and do what is His Righteousness and no longer your right or wrong. This is what you are surrendering to. You are surrendering your choice to be right.
Additional Comments:
What we believe on a personal level to be considered “right” comes from the Garden of Eden. It comes from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. It gave us the wisdom to choose our own righteousness and wrong, but this would lead to death for mankind. As descendants of this partaking, we, in our sin, will constantly be wanting to pick from the tree of knowledge of good and evil for all our decisions. It is our own wisdom, and such carnal human wisdom is considered demonic. But our own righteousness only leads to destruction.
We can have accepted or believe in God but only through your faith must you now surrender to His Righteousness and trust Him with all your core decisions. But coming from a secular western mindset of survival mode, many have a hard time of letting go of the old man/woman to become the new wine sack.
The desire to be “right” is the desire to be like God. Satan said to Eve, “You will be like God!”
We must now desire to be in His Truth.
