Opening
Church, if you were to stand before the Lord right now—would you be ready?
We’re not just living through normal times. Something is happening. God is separating, shaping, and preparing people right now. A lot of people talk about faith—but in the last days, it’s not going to be those who say they believe who stand. It’s going to be those who are ready.
That day is coming. And when it comes, everything will be revealed just as it is. So don’t push this off. Don’t avoid it. Are you ready right now, or is God still working on areas in your life?

1. God’s Refining Work in the Last Days
1) Refinement Through Suffering
In the last days, God doesn’t leave His people the way they are. He refines them, and that refining comes through trials and suffering. Revelation 1:9—John says he’s a companion in the suffering, the kingdom, and the endurance of Jesus. That’s the path we’re called into.
Faith isn’t just something you say—it’s something you live. It doesn’t stop at “I believe.” It continues as you follow Jesus, and that path always includes the cross. Jesus carried the cross, and if we follow Him, we carry it too. There is no such thing as a faith without suffering.
So why does God do this? Not to break you, but to prepare you. God doesn’t just use people—He works on them first. It’s like refining metal: into the fire, out of the fire, shaped, pressed, and back into the fire again. Over time, something strong is formed.
What you’re going through right now is not random. God is working in your life. Don’t run from it. Don’t complain about it. This is preparation. Let me ask you—does your faith carry a cross right now?

2) The Necessity of Breaking the Old Self
Through that process, God begins to deal with the old self. The past doesn’t just disappear—it shows up in our wounds, our habits, and our patterns. As long as those things remain, you can’t move forward.
That’s why God brings things to the surface. He exposes them and makes you face them—not to hurt you, but to remove what doesn’t belong. If it stays, it will keep holding you back.
Are there patterns in your life that keep repeating? Do you find yourself falling in the same place again and again? That’s a sign something isn’t finished yet. God is working in that area right now. It may be painful, but it’s necessary—He’s doing a deep work in you.
As you go through it, you become more humble, more patient, and more understanding. Your heart begins to grow. One day you’ll look back and realize God was shaping you all along. So don’t take this process lightly. Only those who go through this refining will stand in the end, and only those people will remain.

2. The True Mark of the Saved
1) Warning Against Spiritual Drift
So now we need to take an honest look at ourselves. As God refines us, we have to ask—am I really standing firm in my faith?
One of the biggest dangers is spiritual drift. People talk about freedom, but without discernment, that “freedom” turns into self-centered living. The Holy Spirit doesn’t lead us into careless living—He leads us into obedience. Living however you want is not freedom; it is spiritual decline.
A sheep that wanders off won’t last long, and the same is true for us. If you don’t want to be planted, if you resist obedience, and if you avoid responsibility, you are already in a dangerous place.
So look at your life. Are you walking with God, or just doing your own thing? Don’t ignore that question.

2) The Reality of Weakening Faith
In the last days, faith grows cold. Prayer fades, grace doesn’t stay the way it used to, and even strong believers can fall quickly. The real danger is that you don’t even realize it’s happening—you think you’re fine, but something inside you is slowly fading.
So take an honest look. Is your prayer life alive? Is the Word alive in you? In these days, faith doesn’t stay strong on its own.
You have to hold on, fight, and stay awake. If you’re not awake now, you won’t be able to stand later. And when that moment comes, it will be too late.

3. The Life That Must Be Lived
1) Keeping the Word
Revelation 1:3 says that the one who reads, hears, and keeps what is written is blessed. Not just hearing, not just knowing—but keeping it.
A lot of people know the Word but don’t live by it. They turn to it when they need something, and then move on. That won’t carry you through. You will not make it through the last days without the Word. You will fall.
The Word is the standard. It comes before your thoughts and stands above your emotions. To keep the Word means shaping your life around it. In the end, it won’t be those who know it who stand, but those who live it.

2) Honest Confession Before God
Don’t hide. What you hide cannot be healed, and that is true spiritually as well. You have to bring your wounds, your sin, and your weakness before God just as they are. Don’t pretend everything is fine.
God already knows, but when you bring it into the light, He begins to work. Honest confession is where restoration begins.

3) Walking with the Holy Spirit
Those who overcome in the last days are those who walk with the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is still moving and still speaking, but if you become numb, you will miss it.
So don’t ignore those small promptings. When the Holy Spirit nudges your heart, respond. Without walking with Him, you won’t be able to discern what’s happening.

4) Living with the Awareness of Christ’s Return
Jesus is coming back, and on that day everything will be revealed.
So ask yourself now—am I living the way I should be living? Those who live with that awareness don’t live casually. They live every day as if they are standing before the Lord.

Closing
Church, this is a time of final preparation.
Don’t run from what God’s doing in your life. Don’t put off what needs to be dealt with.
Make your decision today. I’m going to be ready. I’m going to stand. I’m going to endure to the end.
Make that decision now. Get ready for the day you will stand before the Lord.
(Amen.)
