Psalms‬ ‭106‬:‭13‬-‭18‬ ‭NLT‬‬ “Yet how quickly they forgot what he had done! They wouldn’t wait for his counsel!

14 In the wilderness their desires ran wild, testing God’s patience in that dry wasteland.

15 So he gave them what they asked for, but he sent a plague along with it.

16 The people in the camp were jealous of Moses and envious of Aaron, the Lord’s holy priest.

17 Because of this, the earth opened up; it swallowed Dathan and buried Abiram and the other rebels.

18 Fire fell upon their followers; a flame consumed the wicked.”

In verse 13, we are the same—we are a people who quickly forget what God has done for us. When God brought you to this church, like He brought them out of Egypt, He sent us to the wilderness first before the Promised Land. Continuing verse 13, they could not wait for God’s answer, so they ran wild, jumping on anything that breathed.

Verse 15, God allowed and gave them what they wanted but added with it a plague which in today’s application means sickness, headaches, chaos, and no satisfaction. Why? Because the point was for them to want God and not what HE can give them.

Verse 16, God gave Moses and Aaron what the people wanted so they envied and became jealous rather than listening to wisdom. But what did Moses have that they were so jealous? Moses was close to God!

Verse 17, Rather than humbling and submitting to repent, they decided to talk back, disrespect, and slander Moses and thus fell straight to hell.

Verse 18, those followers mean that instead of fixing their wicked spouses, they themselves did nothing but follow the slandering and disrespecting of their spouses and became toasted amber. Verse 18 further defines those who are roasted as wicked.
