John 5:5 AMPC “There was a certain man there who had suffered with a deep-seated and lingering disorder for thirty-eight years.”
This man is suffering from a sickness because his body is out of order. Other versions state a crippled man. When things are out of order, then the body, organization, your family, your finances, or your marriage may be crippled. What brings restoration?
John 5:8-9 TPT Jesus said to him, “Stand up! Pick up your sleeping mat and you will walk!” 9 Immediately he stood up—he was healed! So he rolled up his mat and walked again! Now Jesus worked this miracle on the Sabbath.”
The Word of God, who is Jesus, spoke, and the man listened and obeyed. Order was restored when the crippled man obeyed Jesus and no longer listened to his sin. We are to listen and follow God’s commandments. Many Christians are crippled because they listen to more than the voice of the Holy Spirit. Many times, they are deceived, thinking it is God, but their end result is leading them to death. How do we know we are on the road of destruction? When your spiritual and physical life continues to progressively become crippled, you know you are listening to a false voice. Or sometimes you listen, and sometimes you don’t- sometimes you feel like a nut, and sometimes you don’t.
Only when you come to the true voice and listen will you be healed, sometimes instantly and sometimes not so instantly. You can sit in this church as the true voice of God is being spoken, but still, you daydream and listen to the voice in your head or from others.
John 5:14 TPT “A short time later, Jesus found the man at the temple and said to him, “Look at you now! You’re healed! Walk away from your sin so that nothing worse will happen to you.”
